CENTRAL FLORIDA NONPROFIT SAYS GOODBYE GALA AFTER 16 YEARS
The Bridges of Light Foundation Announces an Innovative New Fundraising Platform which Eliminates the Need for a High-Overhead Gala
Orlando, Florida (October 11, 2019) – The Bridges of Light Foundation, a Central Florida nonprofit who has been supporting at-risk Central Florida youth and their families through school-based initiatives, community partnerships and family services since 2004, announced at the16th Annual Players Ball (held on Saturday October 5that Walt Disney’s Four Seasons Resort) that this would be the last year for their popular annual fundraising gala.
The Bridges of Light Foundation is transitioning to an innovative new fundraising platform which eliminates the need for a high-overhead and labor-intensive gala. The organization’s new fundraising partnership model engages private and corporate donors by asking them to take the Bridge Builder Challenge and commit to $100,000 over a ten-year period. The announcement was made at the gala on Saturday night where $300,000 was secured in the first five minutes from long-term supporters: Winter Park Construction, Armstrong Air and Fine Dentistry Orlando.
“Securing a confirmed income stream over a long-term period, allows our organization to stay hyper-focused on helping the kids, without the long pause which comes each year when it’s time to plan and fundraise for a gala.” says Bridges of Light Founder, Stacey Papp
Americans give over $400 billion annually to the 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States (2018 report). The nonprofits that thrive are reported to be the ones that provide the biggest impact to those they serve by working at high efficiency and providing focused care to fill a specific need. Earlier this year the Bridges of Light Foundation launched the Community Alliance – a quarterly roundtable event designed to create impactful partnerships amongst nonprofit organizations and local businesses in order to most efficiently provide for at-risk Central Florida youth.
