For nearly three decades, the Central Florida Association of Physicians from the Indian Subcontinent (CAPI) has stood as a powerful example of what happens when service, culture, and professional excellence converge. With a thriving network of over 600 medical and dental professionals, CAPI is not just a professional association—it is a dynamic force shaping the future of healthcare and community well-being in Central Florida.
A Living Legacy: From DOSA to CAPI
CAPI traces its origins back to 1995, when a visionary group of Indian-American physicians came together to form DOSA—Doctors of South Asia. Their mission was bold and necessary: to build a supportive, professional network that would foster unity, celebrate Indian culture, and create opportunities for growth and service, all while navigating the unique challenges of integration into the U.S. healthcare system.
With the support of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), DOSA laid a strong foundation. It became a platform for physicians to connect, gain professional guidance, and collectively address challenges like credentialing and cultural adaptation. Over the years, the group organized educational seminars, cultural events, and community health initiatives—laying the groundwork for sustained impact.
In 2008, DOSA officially became CAPI, reflecting its expanded membership to include dental professionals and a broader focus on healthcare and community enrichment. Today, CAPI is the only local AAPI chapter in the country to have hosted four national conventions, holding a vote in AAPI’s governing body and continuing to build on its founding vision.

Learning, Leading, and Growing Together
In fulfillment of its mission to foster professional growth and elevate healthcare excellence amongst its members, CAPI offers a robust calendar of high-impact educational programming. Each year, the organization curates specialized summits that bring together leading minds in medicine to share insights, explore innovations, and strengthen collaboration across disciplines. In 2025, CAPI will host three premier events, these invitation-only gatherings provide a dynamic forum for 30 top physicians per specialty to engage in meaningful dialogue with peers and industry innovators.

Empowering Women in Healthcare
Another cornerstone of CAPI’s annual programming is the CAPI Women’s Leadership Forum, taking place this year on May 10, 2025, at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. Titled “Strong Women – Strong Families,” this invitation-only event honors the power and resilience of female physicians—particularly those balancing the roles of doctor, mother, spouse, and leader. In partnership with Nemours, this year’s forum promises dynamic conversations and empowering insights.

Giving Back: Health Fairs and Hope
Beyond its internal growth, CAPI is deeply committed to community service. Each year, CAPI members give back through a variety of outreach initiatives, including their Annual Community Health Fair, held each January, offering preventative care and vital health screenings to the community.
To close out each year CAPI also welcomes business and healthcare sponsors to participate in its Annual Medical Exhibition, a signature event that gathers 300+ physicians and their guests. Set in a high-energy room with branded engagement tables, a gourmet buffet, and a prize-entry “passport” system, this event offers premium brand visibility just ahead of CAPI’s celebrated Evening of Hope Gala. Sponsorships are now open for CAPI’s Medical Exhibition, set for December 6, 2025.
CAPI Today: A Culture of Connection, a Commitment to Service
CAPI proudly serves as a cultural bridge—celebrating and sharing the rich traditions of India. Through vibrant events like HOLI: Festival of Colors, CAPI creates joyful spaces for cultural exchange and unity. The annual HOLI celebration brings together CAPI members, families, friends, and neighbors of all backgrounds to experience the sights, sounds, and spirit of Indian culture—complete with music, dance, food, and, of course, a colorful splash of powdered hues.

Nearly 30 years after its founding, CAPI continues to honor its cultural roots while embracing the future of healthcare innovation, professional development, and community engagement. Whether you’re a physician, a partner, or a supporter, there’s never been a better time to get involved.
